Mark Sivret Obituary

It is with deep sadness and much love that the family of James "Mark" Brent Sivret announce his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit on June 14, 2026.

Mark was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, on May 16, 1954. At only a few months of age, he became part of the loving foster home of Vera and Roy Erb in Long Point, Kings County. Vera operated a foster home for 38 years, opening her heart and home to many children and loving them as her own. Mark remained a cherished member of the Erb family throughout his life and maintained close relationships with his foster brothers and sisters long after leaving home.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many staff members of 5CN and the Palliative Care Unit on 3BN for the compassionate care and comfort they provided to Mark during his final days.

Mark was a devoted husband, loving stepfather, proud step-grandfather and step-great-grandfather, uncle, loyal friend, and a man whose kindness touched everyone he met.

Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Leota "Lee" Mary Sivret (née Hanson); his stepchildren, Sherry Labonte (Fred) of New Denmark, NB, Rosemarie Clark (Ron) of Hunters Home, NB, Thom Cormier (Natalie) of Saint John, NB, Angela Craft (Bill) of Saint John, NB, and Albert Cormier (Christine) of Carter's Point, NB.

He will be lovingly remembered by his step-grandchildren, Bradley (Cavelle), Eric, Missy (Tyler), Justin, Orland (Olivia), Melissa (Shawn), Michelle (Matt), Samantha (Chris), Jocelyn (Jeremy), Ashley (Shawn), Teah, Shyanne, and Chelsey, as well as his 24 step-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great pride and joy.

He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Celina Maccadanza (Marco), Carrie-Ann Sublett, Steve (Jessica), and Casey Sivret.

Mark is survived by his sister-in-law, Nancy Hare-Sivret-Greeley of Barbeau, Michigan, widow of his brother John "Jack" Alexander Sivret; foster sisters, Roberta Hayes (Dave) and Debbie MacDonald, both of Moncton, NB; foster brothers, Glendon Erb (Linda) of Woodstock, Ontario, Roydon Erb (Marilyn) of Kennebecasis Park, NB, Kevin Erb (Bonnie) of Medicine Hat, Alberta, and John Cunningham of Saint John, NB.

Besides his parents, Mark was predeceased by his biological mother, Marjorie Elaine Sivret (née White); his foster parents, Vera Kathleen Erb and Roy Erb; and his brother, John "Jack" Alexander Sivret.

Mark was well known throughout the community through his business, Mark's Parcel Pickup, and for his years working alongside Vet's Taxi. He was an avid and competitive bowler who, at one time, participated in four winter leagues and two summer leagues while also serving as a league secretary. Whether at the bowling alley, watching a Toronto Blue Jays game, cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs or spending time with family and friends, Mark embraced life with enthusiasm and a wonderful sense of humor.

Mark had a remarkable gift for conversation and never met a stranger. Whether someone stepped into his cab for a five-minute ride or a longer journey, he could make them feel welcome, valued, and heard.

Known for his generous spirit, Mark was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He worked long hours, yet never hesitated to come to the rescue when someone called.

Above all else, Mark's greatest love was his wife, Lee. Together, they shared a beautiful partnership built on love, friendship, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Their relationship was admired by all who knew them, and their love story was one of dedication, companionship, and deep respect.

Mark's kindness, warmth, sense of humour, and caring heart will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
