It is with broken hearts that the family of Maria Julia Brown announces her passing on June 19, 2026, at the Loch Lomond Village. Born in Saint John, NB, on May 11, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Della (Jones) Carson.
Maria always found herself in the simple things that make life enjoyable. Whether she was curled up with a good romance novel, heading out for a game of bowling, or settling in to watch her favourite game shows, she appreciated activities that brought both entertainment and connection. She was also an animal lover, with a special fondness for cats and dogs, and if there was pizza, French fries, or a turkey dinner with all the fixings on the table, she was certainly happy.
A creative and artistic person by nature, Maria enjoyed expressing herself and found joy in being around others. She valued friendship and conversation, and people often gravitated toward her because she was such a good listener. Always ready to lend an ear or offer a helping hand, she genuinely cared about the people around her.
Maria took pride in looking her best and especially enjoyed having her hair done, something that helped her feel ready to take on the day. Known for her beautiful smile, sense of humour, and positive outlook, she brought a welcoming presence wherever she went. Her Catholic faith remained an important part of her life, providing comfort, guidance, and a strong sense of community throughout the years.
Maria will be missed by her children: Michael Brown and Michelle Brown; grandchildren: Michael Brown Jr., Dominic Brown, and Bailey Brown; brothers Ernie Carson and Frederick (Pauline) Carson; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Douglas Carson.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd., Saint John, NB, there will be visitation on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 5pm – 7pm. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 12PM in the Fundy Chapel. Interment to take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, donations in memory of Maria can be made to CAMH, Key Industries, the SPCA Animal Rescue League, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
