Margaret Kathleen Risk

On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, surrounded by her family, on her own terms, Kathleen "Kay" Risk (Brewer) passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital. The daughter of the late William and Mabel (Connell) Brewer and the loving wife of the late Billy Risk, Kay was an avid bingo player and loved playing Newfoundland bingo and rummoli with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook and feed her family and friends; she was a book lover who could finish a book in a day and loved to pass them on for the next person to enjoy. Kay was always up for a bargain-hunting trip to Calais or Bangor and was a thrift-shopper before it was cool.

Kay is survived by her daughter Shelley, son Joe and daughter-in-law Christine, grandchildren Jill Russell (Mark), Katie Ares (Andrew), Jolene Whalen (Scott), Samantha Risk (John Clark); and great-grandchildren Carter, Marshall, Billie, Sydni, Emma and Avah, as well as sister-in-law Shirley (wife of the late Larry Walker), brother-in-law Albert; and cherished nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son-in-law Bill Ward, sister-in-law Dawn (Risk) Saunders, sister-in-law Tootsie (Risk) Lowney, siblings Billy, Jack, Kenny, Tommy, Muriel and Connie.  Kay was the last living Brewer sibling.

         As per Kay's request, there will be no service.  A drop-in Celebration of Life will be held November 26, 2022, in the Lions Den at Loch Lomond Villa, Saint John, NB from 2:00-5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
