Margaret Stackhouse Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Margaret Stackhouse announces her passing which occurred on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving children.

Born in Pokeshaw, NB she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Celina (nee. Landry) Sisk.

Margaret is survived by her adoring children: Ernie (Connie) Pitre, Holly Pitre, Joe (Joan) Pitre, Cathy (Jamie) Whelly, Don Pitre, Ron Pitre, and Linda (Bob) Doucet; 10 cherished grandchildren: Adam (Sherry), Becky, Lisa, Brian (Keighan), Jennifer (Hani), Christopher (Karla), Cathy (Jordon), Alexa (Tyler), Jason, and Deidra (Isaiah); several loving great-grandchildren; brother Tom Sisk; sisters Mary (Jim) Henry and Annie Trusler (George); as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her husband John Clayton Stackhouse; brothers: Austin Sisk, Ernest Sisk, Patrick Sisk, Frank Sisk, and Vincent Sisk; and her sister Gertrude Fraser.

Margaret worked for the St. Joseph’s Hospital for just over 27 years, retiring in 1996 as a Processing Aid. To unwind at home, she enjoyed crafts such as knitting and crocheting. Margaret did not let her age deter her from learning how to navigate technology and loved passing the time playing solitaire on the computer and really enjoyed watching funny videos on Facebook.

Margaret loved the outdoors and spent approximately 18 years camping in Belleisle, where she made many friends and countless cherished memories.

Family was Margaret's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones and always looked forward to family gatherings filled with good food, laughter, and lasting memories. Any time she spent with her family was precious to her. She always looked forward to the family day get togethers where there would always be lots of food, laughter and fun. Margaret was the heart of her family, and her love, strength, and gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
