Margaret Doris Sprague

It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of our mom, Margaret (Mardie) Doris Sprague (Buck), which occurred on November 2nd, 2023, at Kennebec Manor Nursing Home with her family by her side. Born on June 18th, 1937, in Saint John, NB to the late Leonard and Anna (Whitenect) Buck.

She was a loving Wife, Mom, Grandmother, and Great Nanny. Mardie was always happiest when her family came to visit, especially the grandkids and great grandkids.  Mom will be sadly missed by her children Susan Fraser (Murray) of Saint John, NB, Janet Armstrong (Paul) of Fletchers Lake, NS, Shelley Haslett (Keith) of Bradenton, Florida, Glendon Sprague, and Diane Bonnell (Steve) of Saint John, NB. Her grandchildren Trevor Hickey (Melissa), Andrea Hickey, Sarah Hickey (Tim), Amy Westfield (Kirk), Craig Armstrong (Toni), Kristin Armstrong (Brett), Derek Perry, Kaitlin Perry, Brandon Sprague (Leslie), Brittany Sprague (Michaela), Eric Bonnell (Kelly), and Travis Bonnell. Great Grandchildren Renee, Daryl, Emmett, Landon, Neely, Hunter, Braydon, Chase, Dawson, Ellie, Cecelia, Carter, Brody, and Rory. Mom will also be sadly missed by her brother Denton Buck (Marilyn), Sisters Heather Wills (Doug), Marjorie Moore and sister-in-law Donna Buck.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Arthur, Son-in-law Daryl, sister Delores, and brothers Murray, Darrell, Arnold, and Norville.

Mom was an active member of the former All Saints Anglican Church. She served as Warden, on the vestry, sang in the church choir, was a member of Ladies ACW and Alter Guild. She volunteered for many church suppers and social activities while a member of All Saints. When mom was not volunteering at the church, she was surrounded by family and loved hosting her closest friends for afternoon tea. Mardie’s family would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to the entire staff of Kennebec Manor for their wonderful care over the past two years. We will not forget the kindness shown towards our mom.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (506-646-2424). Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, November 7th, from 2-8 PM.  A Funeral Liturgy will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, November 8th at 10:00 AM.  Rev. Greg McMullin officiating.  Interment Oceanview Memorial Gardens to follow.  Donations in mom’s memory may be made to Kennebec Manor Social Club, the SPCA, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
