Malcolm Ernest Taylor

It is with great sadness that the family of Malcolm Ernest Taylor, beloved husband of the late Dianne (Brien) Taylor, wish to announce his passing, which occurred on August 24, 2023, at home, as per his wishes, after a period of declining health.  Born November 1, 1946, in Montreal, PQ, he was the son of the late Ernest George and Dorothy (MacAuley) Taylor.

Malcolm spent his 33-year career as a teacher at the River Valley Middle School in Grand Bay-Westfield.  He served 13 years with the Canadian Army Reserve; Sherbrooke Hussars, the Royal New Brunswick Regiment and the 31 Service Battalion.  He enjoyed the outdoors and nature, a passion he shared with his children.  Mac belonged to various hunting and fishing clubs over the years.  He was a history buff and voracious reader – especially books on WWII History and funny comics, which he would clip and send to friends and family. 

He will be remembered as a gentle giant with a beautiful smile and a kind and generous soul, who saw beauty in everything.  Mac got excited about and took interest in anything related to his children, and always put others first.  Acts of kindness and tokens of appreciation occurred on a daily basis, whether it be through a hand-written note, a kind word, a small gift, or a cup of coffee. 

Malcolm is survived by his children, Laura and Brian (Allison), his sister Penny Roze (Jack), along with his extended family and friends.  Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his best friend and “soul brother,” Alexander “Sandy” Coffin.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424).  Following cremation, the family will welcome relatives and friends on Saturday, September 2, 2023, from 10:00am - 11:00am.  The Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Fundy Chapel at 11:00am followed by a reception.  Remembrances made to Ducks Unlimited, The Highland Games Festival (Fredericton) or the Red Head Strays would be appreciated.  For those unable to attend the funeral, you're invited to watch it at the following:  https://event.forgetmenotceremonies.com/ceremony?c=4d0d6e95-b0b2-48f0-88b8-1eccd48b829d
