It is with great sadness that the family of Myrtle Anita Ekstrom, known affectionately as Anita, announces her passing on May 20, 2023. Born on February 13, 1945, she was the daughter of the late William James and Gladys (Close) Bursey
Anita had an extraordinary love for animals. She found joy in the presence of any creature with a beating heart and cherished the companionship they provided. Beyond her affinity for animals, Anita had a wide range of hobbies that brought her immense happiness. She spent countless hours knitting, crocheting, and engaging in diamond painting, using these crafts as a means to express her creativity. Her love for these activities was complemented by her fondness for sipping tea, finding comfort in the warmth of each cup.
Anita was known for her fiercely independent nature and stubborn spirit. Despite these traits, she possessed a heart overflowing with love and care for others. She would readily go to great lengths to help anyone in need, without ever expecting anything in return.
One of Anita's favorite places to spend her time was in Belleisle, a sanctuary where she could immerse herself in nature's beauty and find tranquility.
Anita leaves behind a legacy of love and memories. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Fay Ekstrom, and stepdaughter Tina Ekstrom. Additionally, she is survived by her stepsons, Jamie Seymour, Jody Seymour, and Jason Seymour, and her brother, Harold Bursey (Audrey). She leaves behind cherished friends, Elvina Mullin and Fran Maxwell, and her special niece, Cheryl (Walter) McQuinn who all provided her with unwavering support and companionship. Anita will also be missed by her several grandchildren, and nieces, and nephews who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Besides her parents, Anita was preceded in death by her partner, Gary “Sam” Seymour, and her first husband, Donald Earle Ekstrom. She was also predeceased by her stepson, Wayne. She is now reunited with them, finding solace in their loving embrace.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A Graveside Service will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens on May 29, 2023, at 2 PM. Donations in Anita’s name can be made to the Latimore Lake Cat Group or a charity of the donor’s choice.
