With broken hearts, the family of Louise Edith Mitchell announces her peaceful passing on January 1, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Salt Springs, New Brunswick, on October 11, 1938, Louise was the beloved daughter of the late Aubrey and Cora (Forsythe) Dempster.
Louise was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose love for her family knew no bounds. She was immensely proud of each and every one of them and carried a kind, generous heart, always willing to help anyone in need.
Throughout her working life, Louise demonstrated remarkable dedication and resilience. She spent many years as a dispatcher with Diamond Taxi before becoming the owner of All Star Taxi. She later co-owned Flavi Restaurant and, in her later years, found fulfillment working as a homecare worker, continuing her lifelong passion for caring for others.
Louise cherished the simple joys in life—camping trips with her mother at Green Acres Campground, traveling with her partner Rick, and volunteering with the Lioness Club. She was deeply committed to giving back to her community and supported many charitable causes close to her heart, including the Police Association, IWK, S.P.C.A., the Empty Stocking Fund, and the Smile Foundation. While operating her catering business, she generously donated food to Romero House.
She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughter Pamela Renouf (Wilfred); her son Richard Mitchell (Kariann); sisters Irene Owen (Peter), Sharon Chase (Stephen), and Sandra Dempster (Paul Walsh); and sister-in-law Evie McKay. Louise also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren: Tammy (Shane), Steven, RJ, Ryan, Brandon, Brodie, Kirk (Krista), Danny (Kelsey), Punk (Jen), Wilfred (Missy), Cory, Richard, and Dwayne (Jess), as well as several great-grandchildren, and canine companion Lucky.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Louise’s grandson, Dwayne, for the love, compassion, and devoted care he provided to his grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Louise was predeceased by her husband, Donald Mitchell; her partner, Richard “Rick” Ackery; daughters Bessie Collins (Daryl Richard), Donna Young, Bonnie Mitchell, and Joanne Mitchell; grandson Shawn Renouf; and brothers Arnold Dempster (Mary), Fred Dempster, and Joe Dempster.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). In keeping with Louise’s wishes, no services will be held.
