It is with broken hearts that the family of Mary Lorraine Rita Lynch announces her passing which occurred at her residence on January 19, 2023. Born in Halifax, NS, on February 24, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Theresa (Landry) Richard.
Lorraine had a very kind heart and family was the most important to her. She cherished summers spent with family at their camp in Parlee Brook. Lorraine was always present during their children’s activities whether that be for basketball, t-ball, dance, or scouts.
She proudly volunteered for many different organizations throughout the city including the Legion Branch #69 as an executive member for many years. Lorraine was a member of Horseshoe NB and was Co-Tournament Chairperson for Provincial, Maritime and Canadian Horseshoe Pitching Championships held in New Brunswick for many years. Lorraine was Beaver Leader with Saint Rose Scouting Group and a Trainer for Scouting in NB. She took her Wood Badge training and was recognized with the 1st Gilwell Group neckerchief and woggle. Lorraine was statistician for over 24 years for the Irving Pulp and Paper Bowling League. Lorraine was also a member of the Saint John Flames Booster Club and took care of putting the 50/50 tickets together for the Flames home hockey games.
Lorraine will be deeply missed by her husband Larry, son Jason (Melissa), brother Gerard Richard (Trudy), loving grandchildren Taylor, Jessica and Carly, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Teri Ann “Teri” Briggs and son-in-law Jamie Briggs.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank all of the first responders who were present in their time of need.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023, between the hours of 2-4 and 6-8 p.m, with a Legion Tribute service being held at 6:30 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Fundy Chapel on Friday, January 27, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held in the spring in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Donations to the Saint John District Legions and surrounding Royal Canadian Legion Branches may be made towards a bursary that will be presented in Lorraine’s honor. (Donations may be pledged at the funeral home).
