With heavy hearts, the family of Lindy-Lou Roy announces her passing, which occurred on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Bobby’s Hospice, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Saint John, NB, on October 13, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Frances Hilden, and stepmother Evelyn Hilden.
Lindy-Lou was a kindhearted and truly special person who touched the lives of everyone she met. She was truly one of a kind, her spunky personality shining through especially in how she often dyed her hair funky colors, usually her favorite color purple. With her warm and gentle spirit, she brought joy and friendship wherever she went. In her earlier years, she worked as a cook at St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she shared her compassion through her work and kindness toward others each day. Her love for cooking was apparent in all the many things she baked for her loved ones; she was especially well known for her delicious, creamy maple fudge. Lindy-Lou was a nurturer, always ready to lend a helping hand to those who needed it without hesitation. She always had an affinity for children despite never having any of her own, serving as a second mother to her sister Robin’s children. She also often volunteered at her niece and nephews’ school, where she was a beloved figure known by all the children as simply “Aunt Lindy.” She also deeply loved and cherished her all of her fur-babies throughout the years, leaving behind Cinnamon, Lucy and Knuckles.
She will be deeply missed by her siblings Viola O’Brien, Harold Hilden (Nancy), Frances Cunningham (Bob), Ruby Day (Brian), Robin Oldfield (Randy), and Doris McDermott (John); her stepson Larry Roy (Nancy Vaughan); her dear friends Nancy Vaughan, Barb Sheppard, and Donna Cormier; nieces and nephews Shannon Sheppard, Michael and Bud O’Brien, Hal and Arthur Hilden, Rachel Hayes and Robyn Cunningham, Kelda Brigden and Karl Hilden, Brian and Brad Day and Ruby Lee Gritton, Alex, Nic and Sarah Oldfield, and honorary niece Natalee Armstrong, in addition to many great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and stepmother, Lindy-Lou was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Roy, and siblings Arthur Hilden, Vincent McLennan, brother-in-law Bud O’Brien and nephew Bud O’Brien Jr.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Stephanie and Nicole, Lindy-Lou’s devoted caretakers, for their years of kindness and dedication. A special thank you is also extended to Bobby’s Hospice for their exceptional care, compassion, and the many small gestures that made a difference.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424), with a Funeral Liturgy to be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Fundy Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lindy-Lou to Bobby’s Hospice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
