Linda Marr Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Linda Gail Marr announce her passing on June 6, 2026.

Born August 25, 1949, in Saint John, New Brunswick, Linda was predeceased by the love of her life and devoted husband, Gary Frederick Marr; her father, Joseph Rooney; her mother, Margaret Vantassel; her beloved stepfather, John Vantassel; her infant twin brothers, Ricky and Wayne; and many dear friends, aunts, and uncles who held a special place in her heart.

Linda leaves behind her loving children, Shelly (Rick) Alward, Tracy (Shawn) Adams, and her “baby boy,” Gary Marr Jr. Her family was her greatest pride and joy.

Linda was a proud grandmother to Brady (Erica), Brittany (Aidan), Caitlyn (Bryston), Noah (Maggie), and Emmett. She was also blessed with six beautiful great-grandchildren who filled her heart with endless love: Wrenley, Aoife, Cian, Rhett, Orla, and Nora.

She is also survived by her beloved siblings, Lillian Davis (late husband Bruce and husband George), Edward Rooney, Corrine Bourque (late husband Edgar), and Glenda Wiley (Danny), as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Linda’s happiest memories were made at her beloved summer home in Pocologan. It was there that some of her family’s most treasured moments took place—jumping off the bridge into the brook, going on bike rides, gathering around bonfires, and piling into the back of the truck to go looking for moose. Nothing made Linda happier than having her family close by and making memories that would last a lifetime. Those simple moments together meant everything to her and will be cherished forever by those she leaves behind.

Anyone who knew Linda knew that orange was her colour. She wore it proudly whenever she could. Like her favourite colour, Linda was bright and bold. She was loud, funny, full of life, and had a way of filling every room with laughter.

Above all else, Linda loved her family fiercely. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, the love she gave so freely will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.

A service will be held at Fundy Funeral Home in Linda’s honour on Wednesday, June 10, at 2:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at the home of her daughter, Tracy (address to be provided to close family and friends). In honour of Linda and her love of her favourite colour, family and friends are encouraged to wear orange.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda’s memory may be made to Bobby’s Hospice.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Mackin, Dr. Love, and all the staff of Bobby’s Hospice for the outstanding care, compassion, and support they provided during Linda’s final days. Their kindness brought comfort not only to Linda but also to her entire family during a difficult time.
