Lillian Mackin Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lillian M. (Danells) Mackin, beloved wife of 62 ½ years of Bernard Mackin, on April 17, 2021 at Bobby’s Hospice.  Born on July 11, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Lillian E. Danells.  Lillian was born and educated in Saint John before starting her career at NBTel as an operator.  Then as her family grew, she decided to stay home with her family.  Lillian was the ultimate multi-tasker, and often could be found in her kitchen cooking, sewing, and talking on the phone all the while planning her next renovation project.  Lil was known for her great cooking and baking, and took great pride in doing for others. She was a woman of great faith and volunteered at the Church for many years lending her hand in various ways.  Lillian also played Bridge with the “Bridge Ladies” for close to 50 years and valued their friendships and had many wonderful memories with them. She was also instrumental in starting a Kindergarten at ESJ school before Kindergarten was made mandatory by the school district and provided child-care to many families and kept in touch over the years with many of those families.  Her organizational skills were exceptional.  Later in life Lillian and Bernie were able to winter in Florida and enjoyed times with old and new friends.

Lillian leaves behind her husband Bernard; her son Patrick (Nadine); her daughters:  Maureen (Tim) and Kelly (Shawn); her six granddaughters:  Lauren, Hannah, Lindsay, Sarah, Brooke and Addison. Her sister Faye and  brothers:  Frederick (Leslie) and Bobby; along with extended members of the Danells and Mackin families and many wonderful  friends.  Along with her parents, Lillian was predeceased by her son Sean Anthony;  her sister Barbara Von Richter; her brothers:  Donald, Richard (Joey), and  Derek; along with many loved members of the Danells and Mackin families. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd., Saint John, NB E2J 2G3 (506-646-2424).  Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 21, 2021 from 2-6 pm;  a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Thursday April 22, 2021 at 11am.  Interment will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Bobby’s Hospice or the Cathedral Restoration Fund would be appreciated by the family.  Online condolences are available at:  www.fundyfuneralhome.com
