Leonard J. Berry

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Leonard J. Berry “Spanky” which occurred on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  Born in Saint John, NB on May 10, 1956, he was the son of the late Earl D. Crossman and Lorna B. Carr (Berry).

Spanky had a passion for music, loved playing his guitar, singing and watching live concerts of his favourite bands. He always enjoyed putting smiles on people’s faces by cracking jokes and acting silly whenever he could. He adored his children and his grandchildren and would always talk them up to everyone about how proud he was of them. Spanky was well liked by everyone and had many friends. He had a very big heart.

He is survived by his sons Leon Berry (Leslie), Josh Berry (Christine) and his daughter Selina Callaghan (Tim); grandchildren Adrianna Callaghan, Abygail Callaghan, Riley Carroll and Jaxson Berry. Also left to mourn are his brothers Wayne Berry, Roy Crossman (Patricia), Harry Crossman (Joanne), sisters Patsy Crossman (Ivan), Marilyn Crossman (Rick), along with many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Linda Berry and brother Donny Berry.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.
