It is with broken heart that Leona Sheehan family announces her passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the age of 88 years old. Born in Saint John on December 11, 1937, she was the beloved daughter of the late Cecil and Salome (Nee. Judge) Long.
Leona was a quiet, strong presence in her family’s life and showed her love in gentle ways. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures like knitting, bowling, staying active or having lunch at restaurants with Michael. Her passion for plants and gardening showed her patient, nurturing nature, and her home reflected the care she gave to everything she loved. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her family, and family gatherings held a special meaning for her, particularly Christmas and birthday BBQs.
She leaves behind the love of her life, Michael; daughter Paulette (Jeff); grandchildren Jennifer (Trevor), Jason and Jeffrey; great-grandchild Ethan, Gracie and Benjamin; as well as many nieces and nephews; Beside her parents, Leona was predeceased by her brothers and their wives, Jack (Donna) and Daryll (Pauline)
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Street, Saint John, NB, E2J 2G3; (506)646-2424. Visitation will take place on Tuesday January 20, 2026, from 12-2pm. A celebration of life will be held at 2pm in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Leona’s memory may make a donation to a charity of their choice.
