It is with profound sadness that the family of Kenneth “Wayne” Johnston, loving husband to Annette (Hachey) Johnston, announce his passing which occurred on November 15, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Wayne was born on October 6, 1952, to the late George and Kathleen (Cherry) Johnston.
Wayne was employed with the City of Saint John in the Water & Sewage Department and then in the Stores Department for over 35 years.
Wayne loved sports and he had played hockey, baseball, and golf over the years. He enjoyed watching and following NASCAR. Wayne's family meant the world to him. They will remember him as a tease and a torment, and because he was a Montreal Canadiens fan his family and friends had the opportunity to keep Wayne in check.
Besides his wife Annette, he is survived by his step-son, Todd Leblanc (Doreen), step-daughters; Noreen Robichaud (Larry) and Tammy Thibodeau (Victor), brothers; Brain (Janet), Carl (Bev), Gary (Colleen), and Tommy (Donna), sisters; Barb Agnew (Wayne), Karen Johnston, and Lynn Johnston (Al), his grandchildren; Danielle (Derrick), Alex, Kayleigh, Kyle, and Adam, great-grandchildren; Lilly, Haley and Alexis, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). Following cremation, visitation will take place from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Monday, November 20, 2023. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from St. Pius X Church, Holy Redeemer Parish. Remembrances made to Bobby's Hospice, or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
