Kenneth "Kenny" Defazio Obituary

Kenneth “Kenny” Roy Defazio was a man who radiated unconditional love, warmth, and compassion. On Friday, May 15, 2026, at the age of 80, Kenny passed away suddenly at home, leaving a profound emptiness in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, especially his beloved family.

Born in Saint John, NB, on October 15, 1945, he was one of fourteen children born to the late Nicholas and Madeline (née Boucher) Defazio.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Defazio (née Crowe), with whom he would have celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage on June 11. He is also survived by his two daughters, Shari (Martin) McNally and Heather Defazio (Rob Francis); and six grandchildren, who were truly the light of his life: Dr. Jillian McNally. (Derek Doucet), Ryan (Anne) McNally, Emily McNeill, Kate McNeill, Isaac Francis, and Rachel Francis. He is also survived by his brother Gary Defazio; and sisters Shirley Lester, Laura (Claude) Michaud, Linda King, and Madeline (Michael) Boudreau; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Kenneth will also be deeply missed by his special niece, Tammy Doucette, who was like a daughter to him, along with her children, Alicia (Justin) Cyr and her sons Daxton and Lincon, and Jamie Thomas and his daughter Baylee, all of whom he loved like his own grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Daxton also held a special place in his heart as his best friend.

Besides his parents, Kenneth was predeceased by his brothers Douglas, Ernest, Gerald, Daniel, Nicky, Raymond, and Gordon, as well as his sister Jesse.

A hardworking and driven man, Kenneth worked in the autobody industry and proudly owned and operated “Ken’s Auto Body” for more than 50 years.

Kenneth loved being outdoors and enjoyed many activities including hunting, fishing, biking, and simply spending time outside. From time spent at the hunting camp, plowing driveways, to Sunday drives in his Thunderbird with Cheryl to visit his children, he was always on the go. A proud friend of Bill’s, Kenneth carried the values of kindness, humility, and support in his daily life. As much as he loved staying active and keeping busy, nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his family.

Family was the centre of Kenny’s life, and being surrounded by those he loved filled his heart with joy. Becoming a grandfather was one of the proudest and happiest moments of his life, and he often said the family they created was his greatest accomplishment. Whether gathered around the table sharing a meal, telling stories, or simply enjoying each other’s company, those moments became the memories he treasured most.

The family would like to sincerely thank everyone who offered Kenny friendship, kindness, and support throughout the years. A special thank you to Tammy for always being there over the past few months and for the care you gave him, and to Michael, Shaun, and Jonathan for always helping with anything he asked, visiting, and spending time with him.

Kenny made a lasting impact on many, leaving behind feelings of warmth, comfort, and laughter. In return, the love of his family and friends brought him immeasurable happiness throughout his life.
