Keith Cogswell Obituary

Keith Reid Cogswell- December 29, 1948 – August 12, 2022

Keith went home peacefully to be with his Saviour on August 12, 2022.  Even to his last morning, Keith started each day meditating on God’s word as his Faith was his grounding force.  Keith and Geri’s faith gave them the dedication, strength and love to enjoy 50 years together, spending precious memories with their loved ones.  Keith and Geri were married on February 26th, 1972, after a chance encounter in Mississauga, ON.  Their married life revolved largely around church life; they attended Bethany Pentecostal (North Side Assembly), Renewed Hope Church and Kingsway Assembly (Waypoint Church).  They also had happy memories on trips to Maine, Newfoundland, Tennessee and Florida.

He had the drive of an entrepreneur, Keith was a businessman at heart, who loved the art of a deal and a good bargain.  His business ventures included Toronto Area Food and Ice Catering, “Potato Man” Woodstock Potato Truck, Rothesay Avenue Vegetable Stand “Spuds ‘N’ Stuff”.  They ran restaurants in the Saint John South End and at Saint John Airport General Store.

Keith drove for Saint John Harbour Taxi for 5 years, and then for 14 years as an NB School District 6 & 8 School bus driver.  Keith took pride in his bus driving and volunteered on a safety committee.

His love for his children and care of their well-being was obvious.  Keith made a point to connect with his family regularly.  Grampy showered his grandchildren with affection and nicknames and one on one outings.  Hugs were extended at every visit.  Keith took the time to check in on many relatives and friends.  If your phone was ringing, it was Keith to see how you were doing.  In recent years, Keith found pleasure playing computer games, such as Farmville for one.

Keith was predeceased by his father, Paul Vernon Cogswell; mother, Bertha Amelia (Wasson) Cogswell; brothers, Billy Wasson and Kenneth Wasson; and niece, Holly Lamoreau.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Fowlow) Cogswell; daughter, Dana (William) Kahkonen; his son, Shawn (Natalie) Cogswell; grandchildren, Josiah and Rebekah Kahkonen, Jordan and Liam Cogswell; sisters, Heather (Llew) White and Barbie (Brian) Kennedy; his brothers, Wayne (Rosie) Cogswell and James (Ivy) Wasson; his sister-in-law, Pam Wasson; his uncle, Raymond (Barb) Wasson; and his close friends, Rick and Bonnie Wilson and Bob and Marg Dunbar, as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  Visitation will take place from Waypoint Church (7 Kingsway Drive, Quispamsis) on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm.  A Funeral Service will be held from the Church on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 10am with interment to follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his memory to Waypoint Church, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, the NB Lung Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.
