Kathryn Florence Short passed away peacefully on August 1st, 2022, at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a short illness. Kathryn was born on June 17th, 1946, in Saint John NB to the late Evelyn (Belyea) and Douglas D. Short.
She is survived by her loving partner “Joe” Vernon Mullin, daughter, Dawn (Mark) McDevitt of Quispamsis NB, son, Christopher McIlveen of BC and her sisters, Carol (Erik) Madsen and Joanne Short both of Saint John NB, as well her grandchildren, Carter and Cooper McDevitt and Gordon and Colin (McIlveen) Wilson and nephew Adrien Short Labrecque. She will be missed by her stepchildren Stephanie Thomas, her daughters Rebecca, Rachel and Andrea, her sister-in-law Shirl Gallant, Joe Mullin Jr. and Kaitlyn Kennedy and favourite little playmate Cynthia Mullin. Kathy was predeceased by her big brother Doug Short.
Kathryn was always a creative spirit and graduated from Vocational School with a hairdressing and art diploma. She also worked some years in retail and was twice the Atlantic Regional Salesperson of the Year for Cotton Ginny. Art and design remained a passion throughout life. She will be remembered by her friends for her beautiful eyes and smile. She could definitely cut a rug during the disco days!
In more recent years she and Joe enjoyed their life together, taking several cross Canada drives to visit Kathryn’s son Chris and Joe’s sister/cousin “Lanny” Lee Ann Kessler. Friends and family were blessed to share in their love and happiness, and all will miss her dearly.
