Kathryn Irene (Keirstead) Richardson, of Saint John, N.B., passed away and went to be with her Lord on Nov 25, 2025. Kathy was born April 2, 1945, to Donald and Evelyn (Titus) Keirstead of Hampton, N.B.
She graduated from Hampton High school, where she was a star athlete, and Moncton school of Nursing, where she made many lifelong friends. During her nursing career she worked in pediatrics, mental health, and geriatrics, where she was a light to her patients and coworkers.
She married Allen in 1967 in Bloomfield, N.B. They were married for 58 years. Together, they raised four daughters.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents, her brother David, her in-laws George Allison and Pauline (Seeley) Richardson, and other cherished family members. She leaves behind her husband Allen, their daughters Christine Myles (Scott), Karen Richardson , Jennifer O’Toole (Daniel), and Alyson Inoko (Takahiro). Their grandchildren Daniel and Reuben Myles, Ian and Allison O’Toole, Isshin and Toyono Inoko, and great grandson Theodore Myles, her sister Diane (Bursey ) and brother Rodney. She is also deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
Kathy loved the Lord. As an extension of that, she loved people, and people loved her. She was a very active member of Forest Hills Baptist Church, serving on many committees including the deacons board and newcomers committee where she made a real difference in people’s lives. She taught Sunday school and Pioneer girls for decades and cared for people in ways that many of us will never know.
She was fun and had a wonderful sense of humour. She used that daily, and it was very useful during her many years as Camp Chief of senior girls camp at Camp Wegesegum in Chipman, N.B.
Her health declined in her final years, but she stayed at home with her devoted husband Allen, the love of her life. He cared for her at home until September of this year, when it became necessary for her to go into long term care. To the wonderful staff at Rocmaura Nursing Home, we thank you for your kindness.
Kathy is with her Lord. We know that she is happy. Still, we miss her very, very deeply.
We will honour her life at Forest Hills Baptist Church on Dec 23, 2025, with visitation from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and funeral at 12:00 PM. A reception will follow. Donations in her memory can be made to Forest Hills Baptist Church.
