Karl Russell Augustin

It is with great sadness that the family of Karl Russell Augustin announce his peaceful passing at home, surrounded by those who loved him most. He was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Friday, August 27th, 2021. Karl was born on October 3rd, 1983, in Edmonton, Alberta. He was the cherished son of Karl Augustin, Beverly Murray, and Andrew Jenkins. 

Karl is survived by his loving wife, Kristen Augustin; children Karl G., Rose C., and Dylan A. Augustin; parents Karl Augustin (Suzan Leuenberger) and Beverly Murray (Andrew Jenkins); sisters Danielle and Brittany Jenkins; grandparents Karl and Renate Augustin; aunts and uncles Eric and Marci Augustin and Gail Murray (Scott Wilson). He was predeceased by his grandparents Russell and Collette Murray.

Karl was married to his best friend, Kristen, for nine loving and fun-filled years. Together, they had three beautiful children. He was the proud father to Karl, Rose, and Dylan. It brought him much joy watching them grow, introducing them to new things, and sharing his travel adventures with them. One of his favourite past times was watching and coaching his children as they followed his footsteps in hockey and lacrosse.

He will be remembered for his love of adventure, world travel, and sports. He was an aspiring real estate mogul, with a frugal nature who was never able to turn down a good deal. Karl lived life to the fullest and was known for his fun-loving and charming nature. 

He faced his diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma with endless courage, strength, and a positive attitude. 

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Karl’s employer, Irving Oil Ltd., for their consistent support throughout. Karl enjoyed his job at the refinery and dearly missed the workplace during his battle with cancer. The family would also like to thank the Extra Mural nurses and staff for their support as they cared for Karl.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (646-2424) with visitation on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Kings Church on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 2:00 PM. Interment to follow at Fernhill Cemetery. The family has requested those in attendance to please wear a mask. For those who wish, donations in Karl’s memories may be made to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation. Additionally, a fund has been established for the care and education of Karl and Kristen’s Children.
