Judy Cameron Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judy Elizabeth (Doyle) Cameron on February 12, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, with her loving family by her side.  She was born in Saint John on July 18, 1946 to the late James Harold and Mary Evelyn (Woods) Doyle and was the loving wife of 50 years to her late husband, Eugene Cameron, who passed in 2016.

Judy worked for Canada Post as a postal worker for most of her career, retiring in 2010, and forged a lot of lasting bonds with her coworkers, even to this day.  She was not quiet – she was loud, and she was boisterous, and she was joyful.  She quite enjoyed being the center of attention.  Judy loved to be the host and have people over for meals and dancing and, it can be said, that every holiday was her favorite time.  She was a distinctive woman, both classy and sassy.  She spoke her mind and you always knew where you stood with her.  She was a long-time member of St. Mary & St. Bartholomew’s Church and took charge of the “Open Arms” youth group there.  Her and Gene had a wonderful marriage and after she lost him, she never really recovered to become her same exuberant self.  Family was everything to her and she loved her children and grandchildren more than anything.  She was one in a million and will be deeply missed.

Judy is survived by her daughters, Shelly (Carl) Mitchell and Tammy (Daryl) LaVorgna; step children, Sharon (Mike) Letourneau and Cheryl (Brock) McConkey; 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren;  chosen son, Tim (Paula) Donovan; brother Terry (Ellen) Doyle; sisters, Constance Crowley, Linda (Bernie) Ough and Debbie (Jerry) Hayes; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son Bobby, her daughter Christa, her brother William and her sister Christina.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8pm.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 2pm at St. Mary & St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church (646 Westmorland Road).  A private interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date.  For those who wish, memorial donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
