It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of John Gerard Lawrence “Lorne” Enright, which occurred on Tuesday, January 27th, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on July 21st, 1931, in Saint John, he is the son of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Ward) Enright.
Lorne worked for the City of Saint John as Deputy Market Clerk for over 30 years. A cherished son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a devoted Catholic who enjoyed Irish History & Genealogy, gardening, woodworking and building boats. Lorne was a 4th Degree Knight and loved to spend time at Sandy Beach in Capele, sailing and kayaking and he bicycled right up until the age of 88. Family was most important to him and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Lorne is survived by his loving wife Florence (Brown) of 68 years; sons Terry Enright (Mireille) and Patrick Enright (Sandra) of Saint John; daughter Heather Enright of Rothesay; grandchildren Sean, Shannon, Matthew and Brendon; great grandchildren Lydia, Seamus, Austin and Mason; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Along with his parents, Lorne was predeceased by his brother Thomas, his sister Dorothy and daughter-in-law Patsy.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) with visitation being held on Saturday, January 31st from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Holy Redeemer Parish (316 Somerset St.) on Tuesday, February 3rd at 12 noon. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory of Lorne may be made to Bobby’s Hospice or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
