John "Jack" Hill Obituary

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of John “Jack” Albert Hill of Grand Bay-Westfield at Bobby’s Hospice on 26 April 2021.  Born in Lakeside NB on 19 January 1940, he was the son of the late Donald and Alma (Jenkins) Hill.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of over 58 years, Loretta (Lingley) Hill of Grand-Bay Westfield, his daughter and her family, Lori (Hill) Williams, Rob, grandchildren Jennifer (Justin Nichols) and Amy and greatgrandchild Jackson Nichols.  His son and his family, John Hill, Lisa (McParland), and grandchildren Miranda and Deryk (Autumn Paquet), his sister Dawn Kelly, and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Jack was predeceased by his two brothers, James and Douglas.

Jack was a well-known businessman in Grand Bay-Westfield.  A Mechanic by trade, he operated the local Texaco between 1966 and 1974 until he discovered his true passion and bought his first Truck.  Starting off with a single dump truck, he grew his business steadily over the following years and by 1984 had a fleet of six tractor trailers.  He retired for the first time in 2007 but could only stay away a short period.  He returned to work seasonally, driving locally and planning winter trips.

Jack enjoyed RVing and going to stock car races.  He and Loretta ventured south for many years and met many lifelong friends while travelling and as a member of an RV Club.  In 2017, he retired for good and cherished spending his time with the love of his life Loretta, family, close friends, and playing with his dog, Missy.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Saint John Hospital Oncology Department, the Extramural Program and the staff of Bobby’s Hospice for all their assistance, compassion, and professionalism throughout this difficult time.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy funeral home, 230 Westmorland Rd, Saint John, NB (646-2424). By request of the family, there will not be any visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Bobby’s Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
