It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Alton Sullivan at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Surrounded by his loving family, John left this world in the early hours of October 9, 2025. Born in Saint John, NB on December 16, 1964, he was a son of the late Leonard and Sharon (nee. Palmer) Sullivan.
John is survived by Leslie, the mother of his beloved children; children: Jonathan (Rose), Jessica (Joe), and Kaytlin (Mitchell); four cherished grandchildren who brought him endless joy; sisters: Beth, Maryanne, Tammy, and Ginny; lifelong friends: James, Wayne, and Chris; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his brother Lenny and his brother-in-law Donnie.
Throughout his life John dedicated himself to professions that served the greater good. Whether protecting wildlife as a Game Warden, ensuring the safety of others as a Senior Health and Safety Officer or safeguarding workplaces and communities as a private investigator. John dedicated his life to work that served and protected others.
In his free time John found peace and happiness in nature, fishing, camping, hiking, and woodworking. A self-taught carpenter he loved working with his hands and took pride in every project he created. Above all John’s family was his greatest source of pride and love. He was always there when they needed him, steady and dependable, with a heart full of care.
John’s children will forever remember one of his favorite sayings: “Do as I say, not as I did.”
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Palliative Care Team at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their compassion, kindness, and care during John’s final days.
John will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
