John Edward Sherwood

 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of John Edward Sherwood, which occurred on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Rocmaura Nursing Home.

Born on September 7, 1936, in Saint John, John was the son of the late Alder and Elizabeth (Curran) Sherwood. Throughout his working years, he was employed as a refrigeration technician and machine operator at the Saint John Regional Hospital and Labatt’s.

John had a love for fishing and treasured the time he spent out on his boat. Above all, he valued time with his family, which brought him the greatest joy.

He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth; his sisters, Shirley Wallace and Joan Thompson, both of Saint John; his great-niece, Lia Woodworth; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ida; his daughter, Sherry; his son, Steven; his sisters, Jean Smith and Eileen Winchester; his brother, Wayne; and his brothers-in-law, George Wallace and Harry Thompson.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service at this time.

For those who wish, donations in memory of John may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
