John Ernest Griffin

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Griffin, of Darlings Island, who quietly slip away on Monday December 22, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his loving family at his side. John was born in Saint John, NB on November 6, 1941, he was the son of the late Ernest and Evelyn (nee. Dryden) Griffin.

John worked as a Civil Engineer for the city of Saint John in traffic and urban renewal for 28years. John enjoyed driving (rallying & racing), camping, traveling, hunting and hiking. He often had his camera or shovel or chainsaw in his hand. Supporting missions was a Christian outreach. He was able to travel to Bolivia to help build a Bible school for the Quechua people. Galcom radio project continues to share the love of Christ and the bible to the people.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Nancy (nee. Hoyt) Griffin of Darlings Island; son Andrew Griffin of Saint John; daughters Gail (Gary) Clark of Darlings Island and Sally (Justin) Lyons of Okotoks, AB; precious grandchildren Micah, Hannah, Marshall and Eddy and Eric; brother-in-law David Hoyt.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506) 646-2424 visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 4:00-8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, January 9, 2026, in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 12:00PM. Following the service a time of fellowship and refreshments will take place in the Fundy Funeral Home Reception Center. Donations in John’s memory can be made to Kidney Foundation of Canada.
