John A. Golding

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of John Alexander Golding which occurred unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, October 5th, 2021.  Born 1932, in Saint John, he was the son of the late William Joseph and Evelena (Scott) Golding.  John worked as an Accountant with J.D. Irving, and previously with Rothesay Paper, for 34 years before retiring in 1993.  He was an active member of St. Mary and St. Bartholomew’s Church.  Strong in his Christian faith, John took on many leadership roles including Scouts and working with the youth.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  In his earlier years, John loved hockey and curling.  He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and canoeing.  In retirement, he loved woodworking and going for walks at Rockwood Park.  He was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf and Blue Jays fan.

John is survived by his son Bruce Golding (Anna Marie) of Quispamsis; daughters Lynda Chan of Ontario, Tracy Goddard (Kenny) of Sussex; brother Douglas Golding of Vancouver, BC; sister Vivian London of Kanata, ON.; 14 grandchildren Samuel, Daniel, Ezekiel, Jonathan and Joy; Jacob and Chelsea; Rachel, Matthew, Joshua and William and Trynity, Trysten and Tryanna; great grandchildren Luke and Natalie; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.  Along with his parents, John was predeceased by his wife Lorraine.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) A Graveside Service will take place from Fernhill Cemetery on Friday, October 8th at 3 p.m.  Those that wish to attend can meet at the Fernhill office parking lot at 2:45 p.m.  Donations in memory of John may be made to St. Mary and St. Bartholomew’s Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
