John Arthur Belding

It is with great sadness but grateful for a life well lived, that the family announces the passing of John Arthur Belding, loving husband of 47 years to Elaine (Thomson) Belding, which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on April 10, 2021. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick he was the son of the late Clyde and Dorothy (Ganong) Belding.

John cherished his family more than anything and will always be remembered as a caring person who would lend a helping hand no matter what. He loved camping, loved to travel and spent many winters in Florida.   

In his earlier years, John spent his time working as a Commercial Fisherman. He enjoyed welding and blacksmithing. After retiring from fishing, he spent 5 years delivering recreational vehicles from Indiana to dealers all across Canada where he made lasting friendships.

John will be missed by his wife Elaine, children Nathan (Leah) Belding, Amalie (Kie) Crawford and Melaina (Jacob) Anderson. He is also survived by his brothers; Richard Belding, Kevin (Anne) Belding, Andrew (Jacqueline) Belding, his sisters; Donna McGowan, Nancy Williams, Lynn (Charlie) Lambert and Marsha (James) Leblanc, his cherished grandchildren; Alexa Crawford, Carson Crawford, Jaxon Crawford, Adalyn Crawford, Owen Belding, Austin Belding, Kelsey Belding, Riley Anderson and Tessa Anderson along with several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his brother Terry Belding, sister Ardith Melanson and granddaughter Jada Anderson.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A private family interment will take place at Chance Harbour Cemetery.

For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society, Bobby’s Hospice, Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
