Joan L. Weiss

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Joan Lorraine (LaPierre) Weiss, which occurred on Saturday, October 18th, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Born on December 17th, 1940, in Saint John, she is the daughter of the late Leonard and Frances (Nicolle) LaPierre. 

Joan enjoyed spending lots of time surrounded by her loved ones, her cherished fur babies and decorating for holidays. She held dear her vast collection of bells, spoons and snow globes, given to her by her husband and children form around the world. Joan's family was most important to her. She adored her granddaughter, the apple of her eye, Tori and her grand fur baby Oscar. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Joan is survived by her daughter Ann Matthews of Guelph, ON; sons Horst Weiss (Tiffany) of Quispamsis, Peter Weiss of Rothesay; sister Barbara Cannon of Saint John; granddaughter Tori and special grandson Oscar; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Along with her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband Horst, sisters Sonny and Donna, brother Leonard and brother-in-law Jimmy.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). In keeping with Joan's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory can be made to the Saint John SPCA-Animal Rescue.
