Joan Carol Calder

With heavy hearts, the family of Joan Calder announces her passing, which occurred at Losier Hall, Miramichi, on February 8th, 2020. Born in Chatham on April 29, 1941; daughter of the late Clara (Williston) and John G. Ross, and the loving wife of Bill Calder. Joan worked as a Registered Nursing Assistant, putting her heart into caring for patients at the DVA, and then the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was a hard worker who loved to laugh, listen to music, and spend time with family and friends. Along with her husband Bill, Joan is survived by her children; Perry Calder (Sheri-Lynn Lee), Susan Lawrence (John), Carolin Calder (Mark Farwell), Bob Calder (Shelley), and Dennis Calder (Shannon Dorrans-Calder), siblings; Carmen MacDonald (Carolyn), Blaine MacDonald (Kathleen), Dean MacDonald (Wanda), Sandra MacKnight (Ivan Breau), Joy Budd (the late Stuart), Gerald MacDonald, Judy Somers, Ray MacDonald, Danny Ross (Lesley), as well as 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Joan was pre-deceased by her infant brother. Ralph. The family thanks the staff at Mount St. Joseph’s and Losier Hall for their excellent care.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 Noon, from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to the Alzheimers Society would be appreciated.
