Jessie O. Bennett

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Jessie Olive (Gillcrist) (Proctor) Bennett which occurred at Living Hope (formerly Riverdale Manor) on Tuesday, June 14th, 2022 at the age of 100 years.  Born 1921, in St. Martins, NB, she is the daughter of the late Graydon and Dora (Brown) Gillcrist.  Jessie loved playing cards, cooking, listening to music and dancing.  She enjoyed many trips to the beach where she loved to get into the water.  She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed going for drives, having visitors and watching the Toronto Blue Jays.  Family was most important to her.  She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

Jessie is survived by her sons Robert Proctor (Gail), Stephen Proctor (Darlene), John Proctor (Susan) all of St. Martins; daughter Daphne Stewart (Bev) of Hampton; brothers William Gillcrist of Saint John, Ward Gillcrist (Shirley) of St. Martins; brother-in-law Eugene Clayton of St. Martins; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.  Along with her parents, Jessie was predeceased by her first husband Frank, second husband Greg, brothers Roy, Harvey, Douglas, Clayton, Lawrence and Murray and sisters Helen, Audrey, Mildred and Dorothy.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Friday, June 17th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  A Funeral Service will take place in the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Saturday, June 18th at 1 p.m.  For those unable to attend the service, it can be viewed live by clicking the following link:https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/authorise.php?k=1655505301190792  Interment will be held at a later date.  Donations in memory of Jessie may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
