Jerry Walker Obituary

It is with broken hearts that the family of Jerry Edward Walker announces his peaceful passing, surrounded by his loving children on May 22nd, 2021 at Bobby Hospice.

Jerry's life journey began June 24th, 1942 in Windsor, Ontario born to Betty and James Walker. He was the second oldest of four children. In his earlier years he always had a love for music, sports, and roller skating. Jerry met his wife, the late Sandra (Miller) Walker, while he was singing in the men's choir. Throughout their 52 years together, they raised 6 rambunctious children. He loved his children more than anything in the world, he was their number one fan. Jerry was so proud of his children, and anything they did; he would speak about the smallest of their accomplishments to anyone that would listen. He never missed a sporting event and was the one on the sidelines with pompoms cheering the loudest. In his later years, he would attend his grand children's sporting events with a smile on his face and the same joy.

The legacy Jerry leaves behind is his selflessness, kindness, and genuine love, anyone who was around him felt that and that made them feel comfort; he became Papa Walker or “dad” to so many. He not only made people feel comfortable but also made sure they had a full belly before they left his house, filling their bellies with his delicious 5 alarm chili. When his children were younger, he was known to the neighbourhood kids as the dad who would join in any fun games, even hopping on a skateboard and flying down the hill.  Jerry loved to see people laugh, he was the biggest prankster and entertainer; always looking for his next opportunity to pull a prank on someone or performing his famous “Hambone”.  Every day after work his kids would dog pile him when he got home, he always had more than enough love, kisses, and hugs to go around. Jerry not only loved his family, but he had love for animals; they were drawn to his mild and meek soul. Jerry was a man who you could come to for anything at any time of the day and was ready to listen with no judgement; if you needed a solution, he would gently guide you to do the most peaceable outcome.  One of his many accomplishments in life was his own company Walker Electronics with great success over the years until his retirement.

Jerry shared his hope for a future paradise on earth to many, serving his god, Jehovah until his last breath. He was the warmth and light to his 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Jerry was the rock to his family, the anchor that held steady.

Jerry is survived by his children Christine, Jerry, John (Mary), Joe (Becky), Jeffery (Yvonne), Janice (Skip); sister Carol; along with several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Jerry was predeceased by his brother James, sister Elizabeth the youngest of the Walker children Joshua, and Jerry’s one and only love Sandra (Miller) Walker.

A service to celebrate his life will be held via zoom Sunday June 6, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. Meeting ID: 881 4263 5303 Passcode: 645987
