With broken hearts the family of Jane Elizabeth MacDonald announce her passing on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at the Saint John Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Saint John, December 5, 1957, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Marjorie (Clarke) Larsen. Jane’s passions in life were her family, the family business, travel, her home and gardens and her many horses and dogs. She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, “super” nanny and friend. She possessed a competitive streak which she applied to everything in life. Her early career years were spent in the corporate world, but when she met her husband, Bart, together they devoted themselves to building their business. Today Jamac Painting and Sandblasting employs several dozen people, successfully competing for and carrying out projects large and small in several Canadian provinces. Their daughter Jennifer, now plays a key role in the business. As a girl and young woman Jane was drawn to horses where she took great joy in grooming, cleaning stalls, training and competitive showing, passing this passion down to her granddaughter Serenity. For decades Jane was a breeder of champion German Shepherds, and most recently Corgis, competing her dogs successfully in shows throughout Atlantic Canada. She was a member of the Canadian Kennel Club for many years. Throughout her adult life, Jane was able to indulge her passions for gardening and shopping in creating a very beautiful home and grounds. Her competitive streak was apparent here as well as Jane took great pride and satisfaction not only in the beauty her efforts created, but for doing it at a price that no one else would be likely to match. Her passion for travel allowed her to visit many beautiful places with both family and friends. Jane was also a fantastic cook. She was the center and heart of her family who ran the roost and ran it well.
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Bart MacDonald, Quispamsis, daughter Jennifer MacDonald (Derek Seeley), Gardner Creek; precious grandchildren, Serenity and Wesley Coston; sister Ann Larsen (Brian Robertson), Rothesay; brother Edward (Ted) Larsen (Annette Murphy) Bedford, NS, and several nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kevin MacDonald (Denise), Beth Waters (John), Jana Sheldon (Tom), Troy MacDonald (Laurie), Blake MacDonald (Natalie), Andrew MacDonald (Laurie). Sean MacDonald (Kelly), and Michelle MacDonald, best friend of five decades Lynn Smith (Connell) and Carrie Walsh of three decades as well as many other close friends and confidantes. Also left to mourn and miss her are Jane’s beloved Corgis, Stella and Cooper.
Besides her parents and parents-in-law (Marilyn and “Dick” MacDonald), Jane was predeceased by sister-in-law Maureen Sullivan and brother-in-law Trevor MacDonald.
The family wish to extend special thanks to her doctors and everyone who had a hand in Jane’s care at the Saint John Regional for their dedication, professionalism and heart.
