James Joseph Hachey

It is with great sadness that the family of James Joseph Hachey, husband to Evelyn (Cline) Hachey, wish to announce his passing which occurred on May 12, 2023 (his Birthday), at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  Born in Saint John, May 12, 1932, he was the son of the late Albert and Edna (DesRoches) Hachey.

At an early age he served in the Korean War receiving the Purple Heart for his courage and bravery.  Upon his return he was an orderly at the Saint John General Hospital and the DVA Hospital.  He eventually opened and owned Jim's Signs, which he ran for over 30 years, until his retirement.

He loved travelling, ski-doing, boating and camping weekends with the boys.  James was a boisterous people who loved his nightly wine.

He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Eveline  and Theresa, and his brother Bernie.  He is survived by his wife of 45 yrs, Evelyn, son Eric, many nieces and nephews, and his fur baby Jimmy.

Thank you to Dr. Mackin and the nursing Staff of 3BN for the compassionate care James received during his short stay there.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). Following cremation, there will be a graveside service at St. Joseph's Cemetery at 11:00am on Friday, May 19, 2023. Remembrances may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice.
