Ingeborg "Inge" Theresia Schmidt

On May 29, 2023, Ingeborg "Inge" Theresia Schmidt passed away at the Regional Hospital in Saint John, New Brunswick. She was born April 29, 1934 in Komotau, Czechoslovakia.

Ingeborg lived in Czechoslovakia until 1945, after which she lived in Germany until 1959. In the late forties and early fifties she worked on a farm in Switzerland, and while there learned seamstressing. In the mid-fifties she became a nurse in Germany and worked in a paediatric unit for five years. In 1959 she came to Canada to marry her husband Frank in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Inge lived in Vancouver until 1968 when she, her husband, and their three children moved to Courtenay, B.C. on Vancouver Island. She had two more children in the Comox Valley, and lived there until 2000. From 2000 to 2006 Inge lived in Victoria, B.C. In late 2006 she and two of her sons moved to Saint John, New Brunswick, having purchased a house there. She had a very comfortable retirement. In 2022 Inge suffered a major stroke, but recovered remarkably. But in April of this year she had to be hospitalized for an illness from which she did not recover.

Ingeborg is survived by her sons Gery, Randy, and Mike, daughter Jenny, son-in-law Chris, grandchildren Isaiah and Maclean, and family and friends in both Canada and Europe. She was predeceased by her son Frank in 1986, and by her husband of forty years, Frank, in 2000.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd., Saint John, NB (506-646-2424), there will be a visitation on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 from 2 PM to 4 PM. A Funeral Liturgy will be held in the Fundy Chapel on June 7, 2023, at 10 AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations in Inge's name to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by family.

Ingeborg lebte bis 1945 in der Tschechoslowakei und zog dann bis 1959 nach Deutschland. Ende der vierziger und Anfang der fünfziger Jahre arbeitete sie auf einem Bauernhof in der Schweiz und erlernte dort das Nähen. Mitte der fünfziger Jahre wurde sie Krankenschwester in Deutschland und arbeitete fünf Jahre lang in einer Kinderstation. Im Jahr 1959 kam sie nach Kanada, um ihren Ehemann Frank in Vancouver, British Columbia, zu heiraten.

Inge lebte in Vancouver, bis sie Jahr 1968 mit ihrem Ehemann und ihren drei Kindern nach Courtenay, B.C., auf Vancouver Island, zog. Im Comox Valley bekam sie zwei weitere Kinder und lebte dort bis Jahr 2000. Von Jahr 2000 bis 2006 wohnte Inge in Victoria, B.C. Ende 2006 zog sie mit zwei ihrer Söhne nach Saint John, New Brunswick, da sie dort ein Haus erworben hatten. Sie genoss einen sehr angenehmen Ruhestand. Im Jahr 2022 erlitt Inge einen schweren Schlaganfall, erholte sich jedoch erstaunlicherweise. Im April dieses Jahres musste sie jedoch wegen einer Krankheit ins Krankenhaus eingeliefert werden, von der sie sich nicht erholte.

Ingeborg hinterlässt ihre Söhne Gery, Randy und Mike, ihre Tochter Jenny, ihren Schwiegersohn Chris, ihre Enkel Isaiah und Maclean sowie Familie und Freunde sowohl in Kanada als auch in Europa. Ihr Sohn Frank verstarb bereits 1986 und ihr Ehemann Frank nach vierzig Jahren Ehe im Jahr 2000.

Die Aufbahrung erfolgt im Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd., Saint John, NB (506-646-2424), am Dienstag, den 6. Juni 2023 von 14:00 bis 16:00 Uhr. Die Beerdigungsliturgie findet am 7. Juni 2023 um 10:00 Uhr in der Fundy Chapel statt. Die Beisetzung erfolgt auf dem St. Joseph's Cemetery. Spenden in Inges Namen an eine Wohltätigkeitsorganisation Ihrer Wahl wären von der Familie sehr geschätzt.
