It is with broken hearts that the family of Ian Shane MacGarvie announces his passing at Bobby’s Hospice on August 9, 2025. Born in Saint John, NB on October 12, 1947, was a son of the late Wallace and Elizabeth (nee. Williams) MacGarvie.
Ian is survived by his loving spouse of 27 years Faye MacGarvie (nee. Currie); sons Ian Troy MacGarvie (Sandy Stafford-Morrell) and Derek Shaun MacGarvie; step-son Timothy (Verity) Cormier; grandchildren Ethan Cormier, Jack MacGarive, and Tye Gorham; brothers Dr. Blair (Barbara) O’Neill and Michael O’Neill; sister Dawn (Ray) Lent; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents he is predeceased by his step-father Donald O’Neill and brother Aubrey David MacGarvie.
Ian was a simple, social, and hardworking man. He loved his job as a manager at Parsons-Hydraulics so much that he just recently retired in January 2025. Ian was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching football, hockey, and baseball.

In respecting Ian’s wishes cremation has taken place with no visitation or services to follow. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
