The family of Hilda Ruth McDonald announces her passing on June 18, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Hilda was born on July 19, 1929, to the late John G. & Margaret (Robinson) Bosfet.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter Faith (Dwight) Davis of Jeffersonville, Indiana and son Andrew of Pocologan, NB; much loved grandsons, Cameron (Sora) Davis of Los Angeles, CA and Cole Davis of Lake Leelanau, MI; great-grandchildren, Yuna & Kanaha; several nieces and nephews. Hilda was predeceased by her devoted husband William “Bill” McDonald, sisters Vivian, Evelyn (Tufts); brothers Alfred, Ronald & James. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Hilda met her dearest and kindest friend, Bessie Mattsson of 73 years at the Income Tax Dept. It was through Bessie that she met her wonderful husband, Bill. She had attended and was married at Trinity Anglican Church. Hilda spent most of her life growing up in the Saint John area. She had many fond memories of years in Red Head and New River Beach, where she had a great circle of neighbors and friends.
We will certainly miss the life stories, the laughs and seeing her enjoy non-fiction books and solve the newspaper crossword puzzles. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you for the great care given by the extramural nurses that without fail came to her home when needed and the staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd., Saint John, NB. In keeping with Hilda’s wishes there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Eastern Charlotte Association for Community Living Inc.
