Heather Jean Harriman-Childs

Heather Jean Harriman Childs passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer at Bobby’s Hospice House on Thursday April 22, 2021.

Heather was born August 30, 1951, in Chatam, NB.  She was the daughter of the late Leo Harriman and Gladys Cooper.  She was also pre-deceased by her brothers Fred (late Mary Alice), Terry Harriman, brothers-in law Robert, Gerry, Joe and Doug Childs as well as her sister-in-law, Geraldine Childs.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Heather was an administrative assistant at several establishments including NB Power in Chatham and Baxter’s Dairy in Saint John.  Her last employment was at the NB Hospital Home Lottery. Heather and Rick enjoyed many years of travel together.  One of their favourite destinations was Florida.  Heather had a great love for cats all her life, especially her fur babies, Sacha and Bailey.  She always treated the people in her life with love and respect and had a positive attitude.  Her motto was “Every day is a good day”.

Heather is survived by her loving husband Rick Childs;  step-children Billy (Lorri) Childs, Tammy (Kevin) Comeau, Kim (Doug) Bruce, Mike (Chrissy) Childs, all of Saint John and Fonda (Justin) Childs of Calgary, her niece Donna (John) MacLean and nephew Stephen Harriman of Miramichi, as well as several great nieces and nephews and step-grandchildren.  She also leaves behind her brother-in-law Don Childs and his wife Diane; sisters-in-law Betty and Rose Childs of SAINT John, Suzanne Childs of Parksville, B.C. and Lori Farrah of Miramichi.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). As per Heather’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service.  A private family graveside service will take place at Cedar Hill Extension at a later date.
