Heather Stilwell, of Rothesay, passed away at her residence on Friday, February 3, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Russell Friars and Florence (Macpherson) Friars.
Heather will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 56 years, Terry Stilwell; Children, Melissa of Saint John, Andrea (Jeff) of Rothesay and Paul (Jocelyn) of Mooresville North Carolina; Treasured Grandchildren, Kaley, Jenna & Olivia; Brother Billy (Marion) Friars of Riverbend; Sisters, Bette (deceased - Melvin) Vincent, Darlene (Bill) Harrington, Wendy (Bob) Youden, Jane (Paul) Dalton, Lynn (Jim) MacDonald and Tracy Friars; brother-in-law Brian Walker, sister-in-law Nancy Friars; Brother Glenn (Gail) and Sister Kelly (Bill) Duguay; Stilwell sisters and brothers in-law, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, Heather was predeceased by one sister, Barbara Walker and one brother, Peter Friars.
Heather lived the adage “to whom much is given, much is expected” and to that end, she worked tirelessly throughout her life to serve the Greater Saint John community in many capacities. Above all, she lived her faith and loved her friends and family beyond measure.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Oncology Department at SJRH, Dr. Burnell and Dr. Porier for their exemplary care over the years. Special thanks to KV Extra Mural and all those who made it possible for Heather to remain at home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 74 Almon Lane, Rothesay on Tuesday, February 7th at 11 a.m, with visitation at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. For those unable to attend, the Mass will be livestreamed, and it can be viewed here: https://event.forgetmenotceremonies.com/ceremony?c=60c4cbc4-49ce-4e25-8fc7-ba03891a396c
For the health and safety of all those attending, masks will be required. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Friars Family Celebrate Fund at The Greater SJ Community Foundation, Extra Mural New Brunswick or a charity of the donor’s choice.
