Harvey Allan Arbo

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harvey Allan Arbo who went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Nov 19, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born in Saint John, N.B. on May 18, 1946, and was the son of the late Harvey and Beulah (Kierstead) Arbo.

Harvey is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Beatrice (nee Owen); sons Allan (Amber), Brian and Paul (Sonia); brother Stephen (Barbara); grandchildren Alex, Noah, Madeline, Cadence, and Emily, and several nieces and nephews. Harvey was pre-deceased by his sister Rose Marie Cyr.

Harvey attended Barnhill School and Vocational School in Saint John where he began his training as an Industrial Electrician, then enjoyed a long career with Irving Pulp & Paper retiring at age 55.   He was handy and was a “jack of all trades” being able to fix or build anything he put his mind to.

Harvey was widely recognized as a talented musician being able to play the Guitar, Mandolin, and Dobro, but was best known & respected for his mastery of the 5-String Banjo.  He played in several bluegrass bands over the years including Homeward Bound, Bassment Boys, and many others where he also usually served as the group’s dry-humored comedian.

Following his retirement Harvey spent time researching his family tree, giving Banjo lessons, travelling, and could often be seen pulling his 5th-wheel trailer across the USA & Canada looking for the next Bluegrass Festival.

Harvey was an active member of Calvary Temple for over 54 years serving several terms on the board and could often be found entertaining folks with his music and performing in dramas and productions. Harvey loved the Lord with all his heart and was a devoted Christian who lived his life to bring glory to God.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd., Saint John, NB, visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025, between the hours of 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  The Funeral Service will be held at Calvary Temple, 83 Sydney Street, Saint John, NB, on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Chad Nickerson officiating. Interment will be held at Cedar Hill  Extension Cemetery, 1650 Manawagonish Road, at a later date.
