Harriett Savoie Obituary

"Life is short; wear your party pants." - Loretta LaRoche

The Savoie family is deeply saddened by the loss of this wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was "Harri", Nan, Mom, Bunkie, sister, friend, and an inspiration to us all. She lived life the right way; the way we should all aspire to be. She was passionate about camping, hiking, biking, beach combing, environmentalism, kayaking, creating, and teaching. She cherished her grandchildren and spending time with them. Harriett will be deeply missed but her memory and positive influence will continue to flourish in all those who were lucky enough to know her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Roger, her sons; Roger Gustave (Anne) and Maurice Arthur (Melissa); her daughter, Lena Marie-Claire Erickson (Jeremy); her brothers David (Bonita), Douglas (Barbara), Gary (Nathalie), John (Melodie), George (Barbara), Peter (Jackie) and Clarke (Kim); her sisters; Patricia Gallant, Elizabeth Ann Delaney (David), Cathy Hosford and Mary Jane Patterson (Richard); her grandchildren; Arthur Alexander, Eva Grace, Hadyn, Ayana, Vaughn, Nela and Charlie along with several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Kenneth Craft.

She was endlessly generous with her time, creativity, knowledge and compassion to her family, friends and community. She touched the lives of so many. She dedicated 35 years with Girl Guides of Canada in many roles where she inspired generations of girls and women to live their best lives. She volunteered at the Hammond River Valley Elementary School library for many years and went on to work as an Educational Assistant for the school district. She also hand-made sensory development resource materials (toys, equipment, clothing, blankets) for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other sensory issues.

A big thank you to the doctors, nurses and all the wonderful care providers that helped and supported - in Oncology, Palliative Care, Orthopaedics, Surgery, Emergency and from Extramural and the Red Cross.

There will be a celebration of life held on Harriett's birthday, February 8 from 10-12 (Meet and Greet) & 1-4 PM (Presentations at 2:00) at the Bill McGuire Centre, 95 James Renforth Drive, Rothesay, NB. Bring your stories and memories to share - we know you have lots of them!
