Harold Hayes Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Harold Hayes announce his passing which occurred on November 8th, 2020 at Loch Lomond Village. Harold was born January 29th, 1929 to the late Thomas and Florence (Arseneau) Hayes. He was raised on the West side of Saint John, graduated from Saint John Vocational School and joined the core of Engineers Reserves, retiring from Rothesay Paper Limited in 1990, after 25 years of service. Harold and Jean spent the past 30 years enjoying retirement winters in Florida, where he met many friends. Harold enjoyed playing poker, golfing, dancing at the hall and riding his bike around the park. He could do anything he put his hand to, building two family homes, cottages in Black River and Cambridge Narrows, repairing engines and numerous woodworking projects for family and friends. Being busy was his hobby. He was a lifelong learner and teacher, sharing his knowledge and skills with his children and grandchildren. Harold and Jean were great life partners and parents, the love they shared has been passed on to the next generations. His love, support and guidance over the years has been shared with all their children. Harold will be missed by family and friends alike.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 69 years Jean (Moore) Hayes, father to Bill Hayes (Diane) of Westfield, Donald Hayes (Bev) of Saint John, Wendy Hayes of Willow Grove and Janet McAdam (Garth) of Gondola Point; grandchildren Teri (Shane), Christine (Steve), Laura (Paul), Michael (Cheryl), Samantha (Mike), Krista (Brian), Thomas, Jessica (David) and Carly (Charlie) and great-grandchildren Noah, Hunter, Aubree, Blake, Dominic, Selene and Tristin; several nieces, nephews and friends.
