It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gwendolyn “Gwen” Darlene Ferguson, who passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, at Bobby’s Hospice, with her loving family by her side.
Gwen was born on January 12, 1956, in Nova Scotia. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile, and caring nature.
Gwen began her working career at the Fundy Line Restaurant, before moving on to the liquor store in St. Martins, where she met the love of her life, Mike Gillcrist. Together, Gwen and Mike worked side by side at Sea Side Campground, sharing many wonderful years and creating countless memories until Mike’s passing.
After Mike’s passing, Gwen continued working at the Fundy Trail, where she greeted guests with her warm smile and welcoming personality. She had a special way of making people feel at home and became a familiar and cherished face to many who visited the area.
Gwen leaves behind her son, Jamie Ferguson (Barbi); step-son, Paul Gillcrist; step-daughter, Angie Gillcrist; daughter-in-law, Karen Gillcrist-Gibson; and her beloved grandchildren, Brayden, Emilee, James, Maddy, Derek, Stephen, and Chase.
She is also survived by her brothers, Glendon Forbes (Elva), Harlan Forbes (Sandra), and Stephen Forbes (Marina), along with many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Gwen was predeceased by her beloved husband, Mike Gillcrist; her parents, Bernice and Walter; her brothers, Bruce, Darrell, and Ronnie; and her grandson, Tim.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt and special thank you to all the nurses and staff at Bobby’s Hospice for the exceptional care, compassion, and kindness they provided to Gwen and her family. Gwen truly fell in love with you all, and your care meant more than words can express.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Martins Baptist Church on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m with gathering to follow. Family and friends are welcome to come together to celebrate Gwen’s life and share memories of a woman who touched so many hearts.
Gwen’s life was filled with love, family, friendship, hard work, and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed, but her beautiful memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Rest peacefully, Gwen. You will be forever loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
