Greg Thompson Obituary

With profound sadness the family announces the sudden passing of William Gregory Thompson on May 1st, 2021.  Born in Saint John in 1976, he was the son of Jeannine (Robichaud) and the late Wayne “Bucky” Thompson.

Greg is survived by his loving and devoted wife Andrea (Allison) of 12 years; sisters Michelle Thompson (Mike) of Saint John, Patti David (Robert) of PEI; nephews Brendan and Josh; niece Myah; great niece and great nephew Kinsley and Crosby; mothers-in-law Eunice Leblanc (Don), Marilyn Allison, brother-in -law Berry Allison (Stacy) as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Also grieving his loss are his lifelong friends, Bernie Desmond and Steven Glaspy, as well as cousins Tom and Tony Bass, who he looked up to as his brothers.  He will be forever missed by his Golden Retriever Lucie and cats Odie & Penny.

Greg was also predeceased by his father-in-law Brent Allison, maternal grandparents Aline and John Robichaud, and paternal grandparents Teena and Bill Thompson.

Greg was a man of many skills and talents. He loved to cook, and he could fix anything.  He learned so much from his cherished Dad in “Bucky’s Palace”.  Many hours spent beneath and inside of cars learning anything and everything his Dad could teach him. Greg was an avid Nascar Racing fan and was thrilled to have gone to a race in Las Vegas.  He had a love hate relationship with the Montreal Canadiens and could often be heard coaching from the couch.  He would then call his mom Jeannine, also an avid fan, and share with her what they were doing wrong, and proceed to tell her how they could play better and that He should be coaching them.

Over the years Greg was employed in a variety of different roles, most recently as a Welder at Ocean Steel and also spent years at Shur Fit Auto, Source Atlantic, Buzzells’s Auto and Canadian Tire East.  His favorite having been the years spent in Alberta working in the oilfields.  Upon returning home to Saint John, he went back to school to become a welder.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Friday, May 7th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  A Memorial Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Saturday, May 8th at 11 a.m.  Interment will be held at a later date.  Due to limited seating, please RSVP for Greg’s Memorial Service by calling 646-2424.  Donations in Greg’s memory may be made to the SPCA-Animal Rescue or to the charity of choice would be appreciated.
