Grace Thibodeau Obituary

THIBODEAU, Grace Alvena

March 25, 1927 - October  28, 2023

Grace Alvena (Trecartin) Thibodeau, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on October 28, 2023 at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 96.

Grace was the third oldest of 15 children and was named after her mother.   In her early years, she worked along side her mother cooking and baking at Camp Glenburn, Camp Pasabac and at her mother's bakery.  She helped raise her younger siblings.  Always a westsider, Grace and George married at St George 's church. Together they raised their 3+1 children in their home on Blue Rock Hill.  After George's passing, Grace lived in an apartment above Lynda & Rick on City Line until she moved in with Elaine and Harold in Greendale.  Grace loved to go to the card parties to play Auction 45's, knit, play Bingo, go to the Casino and spend time  with her family.   She lived a long and active life and was very happy!

Grace was predeceased by her husband of 43 years,  George Thibodeau,  granddaughter Sonja Armstrong,  parents Edward and Grace (Goslin) Trecartin,  sisters Florence Bulmer, Marion Cheesemen, Phyllis Henry, Beatrice Crawshaw, Thelma Edwards and Ruth Horton.

Grace will be lovingly remembered by her 3 children: Lynda (Rick) Armstrong,  Elaine (Harold) Brown and Kevin (Jeanette) Thibodeau.  4 grandchildren: Melissa (Kyle) Bohaker,  Scott (Jennifer) Armstrong,  Wesley Brown and Trevor Armstrong.  4 great grandchildren: Norah Armstrong-Folkins, Chase Bohaker,  Jayla Armstrong and Ellie Armstrong.  5 step grandchildren: Tammy Doyle, Mike Norwood, Justin Doyle, Cody Doyle and Reed Bohaker.  Brothers: Tom Trecartin,  Paul Trecartin and Nelson (Christine) Trecartin.  Sisters:  Mary Trecartin,  Lois (Ralph) Robertson,  Nancy (Brooks Bennett) Muller, Dianne (Clary) Fleming,  Esther Irving-Wilkes.  Several nieces and nephews and friends. And a special nephew,  Shawn Tracey.

Grace always said she wanted to die with her shoes on and that's what she did.  She will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery on Sand Cove Road with only her immediate family in attendance.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to Dr. O'Brien and all the nurses on 3BN (Palliative Care) and Dr Williamson and staff on 5BN (Family Medicine) at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their care and compassion of our mother/grandmother.  It will never be forgotten.

A special thank you to our new friend, Rick Wallace, for his daily support during mom's hospital stay.

For those who wish, memorial donations made in her memory to the IWK or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
