Mrs. Grace Berdine Crossman, 196 Boyaner Crescent, Saint John, NB passed away at Bobby’s Hospice on Monday January 22, 2024 at the age of 98. Born in Brown’s Yard, Kent County, NB, she was a daughter of the late John and Lillian Shirley and the beloved wife of the late Alfred S. Crossman who passed away in 2005. Grace is survived by her son Gregg (Elana Rubin) of Toronto, Ontario; her daughter Darlene E. of Saint John; her grandchildren: Rebecca and Caleb; as well as by several nieces and nephews. Grace was predeceased by two sisters: Agnes and Udavilla; and by five brothers: Kimball, Isaac, Alfred, Victor, and Claude. Grace was a charter member of the Forest Hills Baptist Church, a member of Willing Hands Women’s Group and former member of the Pythian Sisters. Before her marriage, Grace was employed as a beautician at the Blue Orchid Beauty Salon, Saint John. After her family was grown, Grace was employed at the Information Desk in Brunswick Square, Saint John until her retirement. By request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be held at Forest Hills Baptist Church, McAllister Drive followed by a reception in the church hall at a time and date to be announced. A private interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Forest Hills Baptist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
