It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Glenn Grey Currie on October 1, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Saint John on July 14, 1956, to his parents Glenn “Joe” and Vivian Currie and was the loving husband to his wife, Julie (Bernier) Currie.
Glenn was one of the first men hired at the Bricklin Car Plant as a young man right out of high school in 1974. He then had a 34 year career as a Special Investigator with Canada Revenue Agency. Friends were a very important part of Glenn’s life and he put a lot of miles on his Harley with them traveling all over North America. When not on his motorcycle he was fishing and looked forward to his annual Magaguadavic Lake Fishing Trip which he started going to in 1989. Glenn loved the outdoors at all times of the year, taking numerous snowmobile trips to Paradise Lake in NFLD with the by’s.
Glenn was a lifelong learner and if he was interested in something he went into it full on, researching all he could. He was curious about anything and everything and always had a fun fact to tell about any subject. Glenn loved to read and devoured books. He was a great story teller and always quick with a joke. Children and animals were always drawn to him and we think it was because of his easy smile and soulful eyes. Glenn loved his dogs and every single cat that Leah brought home, even if he didn’t admit it. Glenn’s most proud accomplishment in life is his daughter, Leah, and enjoyed helpingher with all her endeavours (including doing tractor work at their farm).
He is survived by his loving wife, Julie, his daughter, Leah Marie Evangeline Thompson (Mark Thompson); his sister, Cathy Daigle (Maurice), his brother David Jefferson; as well as his nieces and nephews and pets (Tilly, Ben, Spooky). He was predeceased by his parents.
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks and love to the doctors and nurses at the Saint John Regional for going above and beyond for Glenn during his time there. Their care and compassion was outstanding.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). A celebration of life will be held at the family’s home on October 11th at 1pm. For those who wish, memorial donations in his memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
