Gerard Joseph Blanchard

Gerard Joseph Blanchard, 69, of Quispamsis, NB, passed away peacefully on Feb 13th, 2023, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on July 11, 1953, in Blacks Harbour, N.B., he was the son of Roseanna Blanchard and the late Fidèle Blanchard.

Gerard was very passionate about his role as a boom truck operator and was proud to have retired from CN after 35 years. Gerard loved martial arts and obtained his black belt in Kung-Fu. Gerry could carry on a conversation with anyone, anywhere, and was known for finding a family connection with people. Gerard will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his loving wife Mary; his children: Hayley Clarke (Randy), and David Lavigne (Jenna); grandchildren: Brandon (Hayley Ann), MacKenzie, Keaton, Claire, and Sophia; great grandchildren: Emmett and Annie; sister: Dorice; and nephew: Danielle. He was also survived by his cousin Guy Daigle (Yolande) who he considered a brother, and special friends Marilyn and Tommy – who were like family.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  Visitation will take place on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 2 PM – 4 PM and 6 PM – 8 PM. Interment will be held in Cedar Hill Cemetery on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 10AM. Memorial donations to Multiple Myeloma Canada would be greatly appreciated by family.
