Gerald Corey Obituary

With heavy hearts, yet deep gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Gerald Grant Corey announces his peaceful passing on December 17, 2025. Gerald was the beloved husband of 63 years to Elizabeth “Betty” (London) Corey, whom he is now reunited with in heaven. He was born on January 28, 1936, in Lubec, Maine, to the late Noel and Bessie (Calder) Corey, and was lovingly raised on Campobello Island.

Growing up, Gerald was one of three boys in the Corey household. They were close-knit, raised with the belief that family always came first. Surrounded by love in his early years, Gerald carried that same devotion into his own family life after marrying his one and only girlfriend, Betty.

He truly worshipped the ground she walked on and would truly do anything for her, even taking on renovations he was not always thrilled about. Gerald was a gentle and giving soul who would do anything for anyone and move mountains for those he loved. His grandchildren could not have asked for a better “Bumpy.” Gerald was often described as slow to anger and blessed with remarkable patience.

A devoted man of faith, Gerald was an active member of Calvary Temple Church and North Side Assembly. His faith was reflected not so much in words, but in the way he lived his life. He was a spiritual role model who truly embodied the teachings of Christ through his actions.

Gerald had many interests that brought him joy. He collected model cars, owned several boats, and loved spending time on the water. An avid fisherman, he found peace and happiness outdoors. He took great pride in his work as a machinist and was widely respected for his knowledge and skill. Considered a mentor by many, Gerald worked at Irving for 20 years and also held positions throughout Maine and New Hampshire, where he earned the admiration of colleagues wherever he went. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Gerald is survived by his daughter Cheryl, and son Blair; grandchildren: Dakoda, Braedin, Brandon, Devon, and Haley Elizabeth; brother Harry; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Gerald was predeceased by his brother Randall, sisters-in-law Judy and Beverley, and his niece Christa Corey.

The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of 3DS and 4CN at Saint John Regional Hospital. Special appreciation is given to Dr. Beth Carson and Dr. Jaclyn LeBlanc for their exceptional care and compassion. They went above and beyond to ensure Gerald’s comfort and dignity during his time there. Gerald also shared a very special bond with Jason Gauler, whom he took under his wing and treated like a son. Their relationship was one of deep trust, respect, and companionship. When Gerald fell ill, Jason was an ever-constant presence, spending every day at the hospital by his side, making sure he was always comfortable and well cared for. His support meant more to Gerald and his family than words can express.
