With heavy hearts, the family of George Arthur Carpenter announces his passing on March 31, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded with his loving family by his side.
Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, on February 23, 1962, George was the beloved son of the late William and Madilene (Ravn) Carpenter.
George will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Taylor Saunders, and his son, Dustin Saunders; his brothers, Bill Carpenter, Scott (Darla) Carpenter, and Francis Grangello; and his sisters, Deborah (Kevin) Kay, Anita (Robert) Meade, and Holly (Jean-Guy) Gionet. He will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews and many cousins.
George dedicated many years of service to DTI as a ferry operator on the William Pitt in Gondola Point, a role he carried out with great pride. Outside of work, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—especially relaxing at home while watching his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs with whoever stopped in for a visit. In his younger years, he also had a passion for tinkering with old cars, spending time in the garage with his special cousin Howie and many other good friends.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses of 4CN, especially Dr. Jordan Conrad, Dr. Persaud, Dr. Grier, and Dr. Gillis, as well as nurses Melanie, Marilyn, and Esther, and the many others at the Saint John Regional Hospital who provided George with such compassionate care.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). In keeping with George’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
For those who wish, donations in George’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
